Hip hop
This unit explores the culture and tradition of hip hop and rap. The children listen to a wide variety of hip hop music and beatboxing. They practise rapping and write and perform their own hip hop songs with sung chorus. The children experiment with beatboxing and use ICT to arrange their own backings for their songs. There are good opportunities for links to literacy. This unit is great fun and builds confidence in children. It can link to the hip hop resources in Y7.
